Hazel Mae Rotimi was born November 5th, 1942, to Arthur Joseph Gaudreau and Edna Ruth Hartwell in Lynn, Massachusetts. She majored in opera, voice, and music education at Boston University. She spent 23 years researching African art forms, particularly music from the western and Niger-Delta regions of Nigeria. Artist Rotimi returned to Gloucester, MA, and enlightened people about African arts.
